Quarter-final rematch
Ireland will play the All Blacks for the first time since the World Cup 2023 quarter final defeat in Paris. That night Ireland fell to a 24-28 defeat but their record against the All Blacks in recent times has been good.?
The last time they met in Dublin in 2021 Ireland ran out 29-20 winners, and despite a heavy defeat in Auckland they also took victories in Dunedin and Wellington in 2022 to win the tour series overall.?
New Zealand meanwhile opened their Autumn Internationals tour with a narrow 24-22 victory over England at Twickenham. After two first half tries from Mark Tele’a and Will Jordan, New Zealand edged the early period but four penalty kicks from Marcus Smith kept England in touch.??
While Immanuel Feyi-Waboso scored for England, the All Blacks scored a late try through Tele’a and converted it to sneak a victory. However, England’s George Ford did hit the post late on with a penalty.?
Andy Farrell has named Caelan Doris captain against New Zealand and Mack Hansen replaces Calvin Nash. Meanwhile for the All Blacks Scott Robertson has made two injury enforced changes that sees Damian McKenzie and Asafo Aumua start.?
