On 28 October 2023, the Springboks and All Blacks clashed in the Rugby World Cup Final at the Stade France in Saint-Denis.
It was the second time that South Africa and New Zealand had met in the World Cup final and as was the case in 1995, the Boks emerged victorious.

Route to the final
Jacques Nienaber’s charges had the most difficult route to winning the World Cup after qualifying for the knockout stages and progressing through the pool stages, which included Scotland and Ireland.
That set up a quarter-final date with hosts France, who the Boks edged past claiming a 28-29 victory in a thrilling fixtures.
After a late penalty sealed a 15-16 win over 2019 finalists England, Nienaber’s side booked a spot in the final where they would tackle arch-rivals New Zealand.
Nienaber and then director of rugby Rassie Erasmus employed a controversial and brave 7-1 split on the bench for the finale against the All Blacks.
